Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Cabinet on Tuesday approved the transfer of state-owned land in downtown Miami for the construction of the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library.

The decision was made unanimously by the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund, which consists of the governor, attorney general, chief financial officer and agriculture commissioner. The board manages and disposes of state-owned land. The 2.63-acre site, currently used as a parking lot for Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, sits next to the Freedom Tower.

“Having the Trump Presidential Library in Miami will be good for Florida, for the city, and for Miami Dade College,” said Gov. DeSantis. “No state has supported the President’s agenda more than the Free State of Florida, and I was proud to spearhead the successful effort to house this historic presidential library right here in his home state.”

Cabinet members voiced similar support, with Attorney General James Uthmeier calling it an honor to back the project, CFO Blaise Ingoglia describing the site as a symbol of Florida’s ties to Trump, and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson noting the library will preserve Trump’s legacy for future generations.

The project will mark the first presidential library in Florida and the state would become the 11th state to house a 14th presidential library. Texas has three, California two, and eight states each have one.
