Florida’s average gas price rose by five cents over the past week, reaching $3.05 per gallon on Sunday, according to new data released by AAA.
Despite the weekly increase, pump prices remain 10 cents lower than a month ago and 51 cents cheaper than this time last year.
AAA reported that Florida gas prices initially surged by 13 cents early last week before easing by eight cents over the weekend. The fluctuations followed movements in the oil market, where crude oil prices declined three percent last week. On Friday, crude closed at $63.02 per barrel, down $1.66 from the previous week. Gasoline futures, however, have climbed 12 cents over the past two weeks, adding volatility to retail prices.
Regional disparities in fuel costs continue across Florida. West Palm Beach-Boca Raton recorded the highest average at $3.19 per gallon, followed by Ocala at $3.13 and Naples at $3.12. The lowest prices were found in Crestview-Fort Walton Beach at $2.80, Panama City at $2.84, and Pensacola at $2.89.
