Florida’s tourism industry generated $133.6 billion in economic impact in 2024, according to a new Visit Florida economic impact study released Tuesday.

The report indicates that tax revenue linked to visitor spending reduced the amount Florida households would otherwise pay by an estimated $1,730 annually, or nearly $2,000 when accounting for combined state, local, and indirect effects.

Out-of-state visitors spent $134.9 billion in Florida last year, a 3 percent increase from 2023, while domestic travelers accounted for $120.1 billion of that total. International visitors spent $14.8 billion.

The study estimates that 99 cents of every visitor dollar remained within Florida’s economy, reflecting a slight improvement from the prior year.

The state recorded 143 million visitors in 2024, the highest volume to date, and tourism’s share of Florida’s nominal Gross State Product reached 7.8 percent.

Tourism-related activity supported 1.8 million jobs last year, growing 1.8 percent over 2023. Wages tied to the industry totaled $79.9 billion, including $44 billion in direct wages. Overall wage growth in the sector increased 4.6 percent year-over-year.

Tax revenue generated by tourism reached $33.6 billion, up 3.3 percent, spanning federal, state, and local collections. According to the analysis, this revenue substantially reduces the burden on residents required to maintain current public services.
