Gavin Rollins, a Clay County Commissioner and Republican candidate running for Florida’s 3rd congressional district, has been endorsed by Tyler Yoho.

Yoho, a Clay County attorney, is the son of outgoing U.S. Representative Ted Yoho, who Rollins is seeking to replace. Yoho is retiring at the end of his current term, following through on a campaign pledge to limit his service to four terms.

“Gavin will be an exceptional congressman. He’s a hardworking conservation fighter,” Yoho said. “As a lifelong resident of the district, Gavin truly cares about the people, land and water. Most importantly Gavin is honest and genuine.”

Rollins, who also serves as a high school history teacher and captain in the Florida National Guard, touted the endorsement in a press release earlier this week.

“It’s an honor to have Tyler Yoho’s endorsement,” Rollins said. “His father has served our district well throughout the past eight years, and I look forward to having the opportunity to do the same.”

Rollins has also been endorsed by firefighters in Clay County.

Also seeking the GOP nomination are businessman Judson Sapp, businesswoman Kat Cammack, Gainesville City Commissioner Todd Chase, former congressional aide Joe Millado, physician James St. George, businessman Ryan Chamberlin, businessman Bill Engelbrecht, businessman David Theus, and businesswoman Amy Pope Wells

FL CD-3 includes Alachua, Bradford, Marion, Union, Putnam, and Clay counties and is largely made up of Republican voters. Yoho won the red district in 2016 earning 57.6% of the vote.
