Florida motorists are expected to see the lowest gas prices for a Labor Day weekend in three years, with the state’s average price at $3.29 per gallon due to lower oil prices.

Florida motorists may see the lowest gas prices for a Labor Day weekend in three years.

As of Sunday, the state’s average gas price stood at $3.29 per gallon, the lowest daily average recorded in two months. The figure follows a brief spike early last week, when prices jumped by 8 cents before reversing course and dropping by 9 cents as the weekend approached.

The decline in prices is largely attributed to lower oil prices, which have helped keep gasoline costs in check, according to Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA. For Floridians planning to travel over the holiday weekend, this translates to the most affordable gas prices for a Labor Day weekend since 2021, when the state average was $3.02 per gallon. In comparison, drivers paid significantly more during the same period in 2023 and 2022, with average prices of $3.68 and $3.52 per gallon, respectively.

“Low oil prices have kept pump prices in check,” Jenkins said. “Floridians planning to hit the road for Labor Day weekend are likely to find the lowest gas prices for the holiday weekend in three years.”

Regional variations persist, with some areas facing higher costs than others. West Palm Beach-Boca Raton remains the most expensive metro market at $3.45 per gallon, while Crestview-Fort Walton Beach enjoys the lowest prices at $3.02 per gallon.
