Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez endorsed State Representative Tom Leek’s campaign for the State Senate.
Leek, initially elected to represent House District 25 in 2016 and re-elected in House District 28 in 2022 following redistricting, aims to succeed Sen. Travis Hutson in Senate District 7, as Hutson faces term limits. Senate District 7 includes Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns, and parts of Volusia Counties.
In issuing the endorsement on Wednesday, Nuñez praised Leek’s leadership and commitment to conservative values.
“I am proud to endorse Tom Leek for the Florida Senate. Tom has been a friend and a colleague for over a decade. He is a strong leader and the right candidate for the people of District 7. He will continue to fight for our conservative principles and ensure that Florida remains the freest state in the nation,” Nuñez said.
Leek expressed his gratitude for the endorsement.
“To have the endorsement of my dear friend Jeanette Nuñez means the world to me and my family. Thank you, Lt. Governor, for your kind words and for your tireless efforts in making Florida the best place to live, work, play, and raise a family,” he said.
Leek currently chairs the House Appropriations Committee and has previously chaired the Public Ethics and Integrity Committee, the Pandemics and Public Emergencies Committee, and the Redistricting Committee. He has received endorsements from Gov. Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, U.S. Representatives Michael Waltz and Cory Mills, and all four sheriffs within District 7. He is also backed by various state senators, representatives, and organizations such as Americans for Prosperity-Florida and the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
Leek is currently serving as a delegate at the Republican National Committee Convention in Milwaukee, where he is supporting the nomination of Donald Trump for President.
