Matt Gaetz predicts President Trump will pardon Roger Stone

by | May 20, 2020

Congressman Matt Gaetz is predicting that President Donald Trump will pardon his long-time political consigliere Roger Stone. In his own podcast, Hot Takes with Matt Gaetz, the firebrand congressman said Wednesday afternoon that Roger Stone shouldn’t spend one day in jail, and justice would only be restored if Stone was completely pardoned by President Donald Trump:

“I am calling on President Trump to issue this pardon, not for the president’s benefit, but for the benefit of a justice system that cannot be perverted ends when elites don’t like when someone like Donald Trump is president.”

“I would love to see President Trump pardon Roger Stone to ensure that Roger Stone does not spend one day in jail, and you know, now, I’m going to call it. I’m going to make a prediction, right here and right now, that not only should Roger Stone be pardoned, Roger Stone will be pardoned.”

Roger Stone, a former advisor to President Donald Trump/political activist, was indicted back in January of 2019 by then special counsel Robert Mueller  on one count of obstruction, five counts of false statements, and one count of witness tampering. Stone has denied all allegations against him and eventually pleaded not guilty.

Gaetz’s prediction of Stone’s pardon is the latest political shade being thrown in relation to the widely discredited Trump / Russia / collusion narrative pushed by Democrats for the past four years.  Previous calls to action by Gaetz have resulted in action by Trump. Gaetz earlier appeared on Tucker Carlson to expose the $3.7 million grant to the Wuhan Institute of Virology and called for President Trump to pull their funding. Subsequently after his Fox News hit, President Trump appears to have listened.

Gaetz has also called on Attorney General William Barr and the Department of Justice to ground all Chinese-made drones donated by DJI for extreme national security and cyber concerns. This past weekend, congressional leaders and administrational officials joined President Trump at Camp David. Gaetz, who was on the guest list for the trip, revealed on his podcast Monday that White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows revealed that the administration is in discussions to take action against the drones manufacturer.

After a series of major policy victories with the administration, Gaetz appears to have as much influence with President Trump as just about any political figure in the state.
