Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried has landed over 2,000 contributions since launching her campaign for Florida governor on Tuesday.

The Democratic gubernatorial candidate touted the achievement on Twitter Thursday, listing all 2,169 founding donors and thanking those who individually contributed to the campaign. Fried also noted that the total contributions carry an average donation of $44, signaling that her campaign raised over $95,000 in just two days.

“I’m fired up & filled with gratitude,” tweeted out late Thursday. “Since starting our campaign, we’ve received 2,169 contributions, with an average online donation of $44!”

The most notable name could be Rebekah Jones, who openly endorsed Fried on Wednesday despite the campaign not acknowledging the support. Jones, a former Florida Department of Health (DOH) employee who was fired from her post for repeatedly violating the agency’s policy about communicating with the media, also stated on Wednesday that she was “joining the campaign.”

Fried’s campaign has not commented on Jones’s involvement.

Fried, the lone statewide Democrat, officially entered the race for governor earlier this week, becoming the second prominent Democrat to challenge Governor Ron DeSantis in 2022. While Fried continues to be the most prominent voice against DeSantis, the marijuana lobbyist will have a tough hill to climb. Her sole primary opponent at the moment, former Florida Republican governor turned Democratic Congressman Charlie Crist, raised over $1.3 million in his first month of campaigning.

Likewise, DeSantis has been a fundraising pro, with his committee, Friends of Ron DeSantis, raking in $14 million in April and more than $5 million in May.
