An analysis by Marketwatch of the top political donors among S&P 500 Corporations found that more of them are supporting former Vice President Joe Biden than President Donald Trump, but Trump still comes out far ahead in terms of total cash from this group. From the story:

Overall spending in this year’s election will approach $11 billion, easily topping the $7 billion spent (in today’s dollars) in the 2016 election, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonprofit group that tracks money in politics.

Thirty chief executives have contributed $536,100 to Biden’s campaign or groups affiliated with the Democratic National Committee or pro-Biden Political Action Committees, according to Marketwatch. Meanwhile, Trump has raised about $2.5 million from half the number of donors. The analysis includes data on contributions made between January 2019 and August 2020

While Florida is home to 14 of the companies on the S&P 500 list, including L3Harris Communications, NextEra Energy, CSX Corporation and Carnival Cruise Lines, none of the state’s top CEO’s made the list of top donors to either presidential campaign.
