President Trump reaffirms it in a robo call and tweet, he supports Ron DeSantis for governor

In case there was any doubt about it, President Donald Trump thinks Ron DeSantis should be Florida’s next governor.

“Hello, this is President Donald Trump,” the president said in a robo call going out to Florida Republican voters today. “My friend Ron DeSantis is running for governor of the great state of Florida. I love Florida. I fully endorsed Ron in tomorrow’s election.

“Ron is a strong, solid conservative. He stood with me to build the wall, which is under construction right now, fight crime and cut taxes – all things that we’re getting done and all with Ron’s help,” Trump says.

The presidents got the ball rolling on DeSantis’ candidacy when, in a Twitter post in December, he suggested DeSantis would make a good governor for Florida. A few weeks later, DeSantis announced his candidacy.

In June, Trump tweeted his “full” endorsement of DeSantis, propelling DeSantis into a lead in the polls over his opponent Adam Putnam. But, recent polls have suggested the race has tightened up in the homestretch. Could the recent polls be the reason for the president’s robo call, which touts DeSantis’ conservative values and highlights his service to his country?

“Ron is an Iraq war veteran who like me loves our military and is giving our troops the support and equipment they need to defend us,” the president says in the robo call. “He’s also really helping me with the vets and, as you know, we’ve already gotten choice approved. The vets now have choice for the first time ever.

“Remember, tomorrow’s Election Day. Please get to the polls tomorrow to join me in supporting my friend, Ron DeSantis, for governor. He will be absolutely outstanding.”

Trump later followed up with another tweet in support of DeSantis.
