Ready for liftoff: Launch Tally embarks on mission to turn Tallahassee into a tech hub

by | Mar 17, 2022

A group of business leaders and technology experts are launching a new movement this month to address Tallahassee’s tech talent gap and turn the Capital City into a tech gold mine.

Launch Tally, a tech ecosystem created by a group of technologists, entrepreneurs and service providers, is launching its initiative later this month that will put Tallahassee technology on the national stage. The team of tech experts will unveil the new online virtual hub, called the “LaunchPad”, allowing visitors to see a directory of startups, late-stage companies, techies and service providers in Tallahassee. The group will also be rolling out an interactive tech ecosystem diagram that shows the organizations, programs, and resources available for entrepreneurs and innovators in the greater Tallahassee tech community.

Born from the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce’s Talent Pipeline Management (TPM) initiative, Launch Tally is the latest hub aimed at closing the skills gap and bolstering talent supply chains.

“I have lived in Tallahassee for 14 years and never have I seen so much action around technology in our community”, says Eddie Gonzalez Loumiet, Ruvos CEO and Co-Founder of Launch Tally. “Launch Tally will help showcase the amazing technologists and tech companies doing work around the world. The momentum is there, and we will do everything we can to make sure it turns into a movement!” The goal of Launch Tally is to bring together Tallahassee’s tech companies, non-profits, government, universities and entrepreneurs to create awareness and resources around technology opportunities and talent in the community.

Florida continues to be a strong reservoir for the tech industry. Just recently, the Sunshine State ranked No. 9 nationally as a talent pool for 26 of the biggest tech companies in the nation. Additionally, Leon County has built a strong tech foundation, boasting 64 companies and 12,816 jobs in the tech sector, according to Loumiet.

“I’ve had the privilege of working with tech leaders and communities across our nation. What I’m feeling in Tallahassee at this moment is the same excitement I experienced ahead of the booms in Miami, Austin, Raleigh and Atlanta,” said James Taylor, CEO of the Florida Technology Council. “Tallahassee tech companies growing by 50-700% is nothing short of impressive. There’s a tech storm brew’n in Tally and we are going to feed this monster!”

Thus far, Launch Tally has registered over 200 people and anticipates a strong showing when it officially kicks off on Wednesday, March 23 at the FSU Conference Center. The event, which is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., will also feature the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce along with founding partners Domi Station, FSU College of Communication & Information, Florida Technology Council, Ruvos and TalTech Alliance.
