The Debbie Mayfield campaign for State Senate is reporting strong fundraising numbers to support her abbreviated Special Election campaign.
As a sitting House member, Mayfield is prohibited from raising money during the legislative session which began on Tuesday. Mayfield’s campaign reports nearly $1.4 million in funds to support her candidacy leading up to the April 1st Primary Election.
According to Mayfield, she currently holds $160,000 in her campaign account, $260,000 in Conservatives for Good Government, and over $1 million in Friends of Debbie Mayfield, a political committee that is only two weeks old.
Just three weeks ago, the Florida Supreme Court sided with Mayfield in a legal battle with the Governor’s office and the Department of State. Since then, Mayfield has been hard at work raising money to support her campaign to return to the Florida Senate.
Debbie Mayfield’s fundraising success, while not unexpected, cements her status as the undisputed front runner in the Special Election field of candidates.
Mayfield’s fundraising success, along with a barrage of endorsements announced on social media, suggest that she’s in a strong position to return to the upper chamber. Ultimately, voters in Senate District 19 will have the final say, with the Republican Primary scheduled for April 1 and the General Election following on June 10, 2025.
