After whistleblowers revealed evidence of inmate abuse and cover-ups at the Florida Department of Corrections, the state agreed to settle a retaliation lawsuit for $800,000. On Trimmel Gomes’ latest episode of The Rotunda, attorney Ryan Andrews who handled the case discusses another pending lawsuit with a whistleblower who sought First Amendment right protections for sharing his story on The Rotunda in 2015. Gomes also tells the story of “Charlie’s Angels” on Florida’s Supreme Court with U.S. Rep.-elect Charlie Crist, D- St. Petersburg and Justice James E.C. Perry who is retiring at the end of the year.
