by | Jun 5, 2017

Mike Dew is now in charge of the biggest Florida agency budget as he takes over at the Florida Department of Transportation.

“It is an honor to be appointed as Secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation. Florida is the fastest growing state in the nation and Governor Rick Scott’s continued focus on our transportation infrastructure is vital not only to our growing population, but to Florida’s booming economy,” said Dew. “I look forward to continuing the great work of FDOT and cementing our state as a leader in transportation.”

Dew has had several jobs with the state of Florida, all with the Scott administration.

Most recently, since January 2015, Dew has been the chief of staff of DOT. Previously, he served as the Chief of Staff of the Florida Department of Corrections from 2012 – 2014, and as Director of External Affairs for Governor Scott from 2011-2012.

Prior to moving to Florida, Dew worked for presidential candidate John McCain as the “advance man.”

Dew, who beat out more than 120 other candidates for the job, will take over the reigns from the intermim secretary, Rachel Cone.
