Are you a freelance writer with a passion for business, policy, and politics in Florida? The Capitolist, after seven successful years, is expanding and enhancing our coverage of the state’s key players, industries, and policymakers. Our mission is to help readers understand the driving forces behind Florida’s growth while connecting with the state’s opinion makers, business leaders and political community.

We are seeking talented freelance writers / reporters who can contribute to our Tallahassee-based news team. Applicants need not live or work in Tallahassee. This opportunity is perfect for experienced journalists or those with a background in agency or corporate communications who have a solid understanding of how business and government agencies operate and impact Florida’s economic outlook.

Key requirements:

  • Experience in journalism, agency, corporate communications, or similar fields with a communications focus
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Social media experience (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
  • As a freelance or part-time position, you’ll enjoy the flexibility of working remotely while being available to cover breaking news as-it-happens.
