Carolina Amesty wins HD 45 Republican Primary

  • She will now face Democratic nominee Allie Braswell in November

Republican Carolina Amesty fended off four well-funded challengers to win Florida’s House District 45 Republican Primary.

At the time of this article, Amesty secured 45 percent of the vote. Businessman Bruno Portigliatti picked up 22 percent of the vote, while former congressional candidates Vennia Francois and Mike Zhao took down 16 and 12 percent of the vote. Retired law enforcement officer Janet Frevola came in last with 4 percent of the vote.

Amesty earned degrees in undergraduate studies in political science and graduate studies in international relations. She is currently the vice president at Central Christian University and serves as a board member for Chaplains of Florida, American Chaplains, and Central Christian Academy. She is also a local business owner.

From the onset of her campaign, Amesty continued to pick up endorsements from key officials, lawmakers, and local leaders across the Sunshine State. Those backing her campaign included Donald Trump Jr., Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, former State Education Commissioner and Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran, State Senator Danny Burgess, State Representatives Joe Harding and Stan McClain, soccer star Aurélien Collin, Flagler County Chair Joe MullinsBertica Cabrera Morrisand a host of other local leaders.

Amesty will now face Democrat and diversity consultant Allie Lee Braswell in November.

HD 45, one of the most diverse in the state, encompasses southwestern Orange County, including Walt Disney World, Windermere, and Winter Garden.
