Republican candidate Carolina Amesty grabbed another endorsement in her bid for House District 45, earning the backing of Republican Sen. Danny Burgess.
Burgess, who represents Senate District 20, served as a Major in the United States Army Reserve and is the former Executive Director of the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs. He was elected to the Florida Senate in 2020, held the position of chairman of the Senate Legislative Reapportionment Subcommittee and was selected to chair the Senate Judiciary Committee during this year’s legislative session.
“Carolina is a true conservative with a heart for public service and the values that will cause her to fight for the small businesses and working families of Florida,” Burgess said. “Carolina will take the same energy that has made her a successful businesswoman and educator to the Florida Legislature, and I fully endorse her campaign.”
Amesty earned degrees in undergraduate studies in Political Science and graduate studies in International Relations. She is currently the vice president at Central Christian University and serves as a board member for Chaplains of Florida, American Chaplains, and Central Christian Academy. Amesty is also a local business owner.
“Receiving an endorsement from Sen. Danny Burgess is a true honor,” said Carolina Amesty. “Sen. Burgess is an unparalleled advocate for our state’s veterans and is also a strong voice for childhood literacy. With endorsements like these, I know we will be successful, and I look forward to serving with him in the Florida Legislature.”
Burgess’s seal of approval is the latest in a string of endorsements for Amesty’s campaign, which include Bertica Cabrera Morris, State Representative Joe Harding, and soccer star Aurélien Collin.
Other Republicans eyeing the seat include former congressional candidates, Vennia Francois and Mike Zhao, businessman Bruno Portigliatti, and retired law enforcement officer Janet Frevola. The only Democrat that has filed to run is Allie Lee Braswell Jr., former president of the Central Florida Urban League.
HD 45 encompasses southwestern Orange County, including Walt Disney World, Windermere, and Winter Garden.
