Dr. Ashley Booth Norse, a Jacksonville emergency medicine physician, has been installed as the 149th president of the Florida Medical Association (FMA). The announcement came Saturday during the organization’s annual meeting in Orlando, where the group also named its slate of officers for the 2025–26 term.

Norse, who is board-certified in emergency medicine, began her career at the University of Florida College of Medicine-Jacksonville in 2005 and has served in multiple academic and administrative roles, including associate chair of operations and medical director for the emergency department and observation unit. She remains a part-time professor in the department of emergency medicine.

FMA Chief Executive Officer Chris Clark praised Norse’s appointment, citing her involvement in medical leadership across the state.

“Dr. Norse has served in numerous local, state and national leadership positions for more than 15 years and her dedicated service and invaluable expertise will allow our organization to continue its impactful presence as the state’s premier voice of medicine,” Clark said.

A graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Norse completed her residency and a healthcare policy fellowship at UF-Jacksonville, where she was named chief resident in her final year. She has served on the FMA Board of Governors since 2008 and previously held the positions of president-elect, vice president, speaker and vice speaker.

Norse is also a past president of the Florida College of Emergency Physicians and the Duval County Medical Society, and serves on the FMA PAC Executive Committee while representing the American College of Emergency Physicians as a delegate to the American Medical Association.

Dr. Norse succeeds Lisa A. Cosgrove of Jacksonville, who will serve as immediate past president.

Other officers named for the 2025–26 term include President-Elect Alma Littles of Tallahassee, Vice President Charles Chase of Winter Park, Speaker Mark Rubenstein of Jupiter, Vice Speaker Sanjay Pattani of Windermere, Secretary Ryan Hall of Lake Mary and Treasurer Rebekah Bernard of Fort Myers.
