U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson has endorsed Mike Haridopolos for Congress, praising his conservative leadership and experience, as Haridopolos aims to succeed the retiring Rep. Bill Posey in Florida’s 8th Congressional District.

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson has endorsed Mike Haridopolos in his bid for Congress. In issuing the endorsement, Johnson cited Haridopolos’ conservative record and leadership experience.

“Mike Haridopolos is a tested conservative leader with a proven record of fighting for lower taxes, balanced budgets, and common-sense values,” Johnson said. “In Congress, I know Mike will stand firm with House Republicans to secure the border, protect our national security, and make America affordable again for families. Mike has my complete endorsement.”

In his campaign announcement last month, Haridopolos emphasized his commitment to addressing national issues such as immigration and economic policy, aligning closely with former President Donald Trump’s America First agenda.

Haridopolos expressed appreciation for Johnson’s endorsement.

“I am truly honored to have the endorsement of Speaker Johnson,” he said. “In Congress, I will work closely with Speaker Johnson and House Republicans to protect our border security, national security, and economic security. We must get our country back on the right track after four disastrous years under Joe Biden.”

Haridopolos announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Florida’s 8th Congressional District on Friday, seeking to replace the retiring Rep. Bill Posey.

The announcement came hours after Posey, a Republican who has represented the district since 2008, declared he would not seek reelection at the end of his term. Posey subsequently endorsed Haridopolos.

Congressional District 8, covering Brevard, Indian River, and part of Orange County, is a Republican stronghold, with Posey having secured the seat comfortably in past elections. Haridopolos’ entry into the race is expected to maintain the GOP’s strong presence in the area.

Haridopolos, a former president of the Florida Senate, served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2000 to 2003 and in the State Senate from 2003 to 2012. He was Senate president from 2010 to 2012. Since the launch of his campaign. Haridopolos picked up endorsements from Sen. Rick Scott and Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis.
