Tallahassee City Commissioner Jeremy Matlow announced his candidacy for the city’s 2026 mayor’s race Monday, saying he will focus on economic growth, affordable housing and environmental protection while preserving the city’s character.
Matlow, a member of the commission since 2018, positioned his campaign around themes of economic opportunity, housing affordability and environmental stewardship. In a prepared statement, he said he would work to “improve the way of life and affordable living for all Tallahasseeans, create high-paying jobs, build reasonably priced housing and protect our neighborhoods and environment”
Matlow additionally said he would work to attract higher-paying jobs, expand reasonably priced housing, protect the city’s natural resources and strengthen the arts and cultural scene, as well as direct investment into underserved areas.
“As your Mayor, I’ll dedicate my time to improving the way of life and affordable living for all Tallahasseeans, create high paying jobs, build reasonably priced housing and protect our neighborhoods and environment,” Matlow said in a press release.
The announcement arrives on the same day Mayor John Dailey told WTXL Tallahassee that he will not seek re-election after two terms.
