KPMG’s Florida practice has received a national Gold Award from the Brandon Hall Group for a multi-year training and learning program developed in partnership with the Florida Division of Emergency Management, the firm announced Thursday.
The award recognizes work carried out over the past three years to design and implement training aimed at strengthening how state emergency-management employees perform their daily responsibilities and respond during disasters.
The Brandon Hall Group Excellence Awards are nationally recognized and focus on programs that demonstrate measurable results and practical impact.
According to KPMG, the initiative was built through close collaboration with FDEM staff and tailored to Florida’s operational environment, with an emphasis on clear communication, applied learning tools and readiness during emergency activations.
“This work reflects the dedication of everyone involved,” said Anthony Monaco, a U.S. partner at KPMG. He said KPMG’s Florida team worked alongside FDEM to support communities recovering from major storms.
KPMG said its support for FDEM has spanned multiple hurricane seasons and included training and operational assistance tied to response, recovery and long-term resilience efforts. The firm cited its involvement following Hurricane Ian and its work exploring the use of artificial intelligence tools to improve hurricane preparedness and response as part of the broader partnership.
KPMG said it views the award as recognition of a sustained public-private collaboration designed to help state employees better prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies affecting Floridians across the state.
