Former Florida House Representative Ralph Massullo announced on Wednesday that he has filed to run for the Florida Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Blaise Ingoglia, who was appointed on the same day as the state’s chief financial officer.
Massullo is seeking to represent Senate District 11, which spans parts of Citrus, Hernando, and Pasco counties.
“Florida’s success is the result of Florida First leaders who championed common sense, individual liberty, and conservative values,” Massullo said. “During my time in the state legislature, I was proud to be a part of the movement that transformed Florida into the beacon of freedom and prosperity that it is today.”
Massullo is the first major Republican to enter the race. Shortly after his candidacy was announced, Gov. DeSantis offered his endorsement.
“Succeeding Blaise Ingoglia in the Senate will be a tough act to follow, but if anyone can do it, Ralph Massullo can,” Gov. DeSantis said. “Ralph has my support to be the next senator from Senate District 11!”
Massullo is the founder and president of a Lecanto-based medical practice and has practiced medicine in the area for more than three decades. He previously served as president of the Florida Society of Dermatology Surgery and was named Surgeon of the Year in 1998.
